In this role, you will lead the global procurement strategy for piping-related categories within major capital investment projects. You will collaborate closely with Capex buyers and technical experts to ensure efficient sourcing, supplier alignment, and successful project delivery. The focus lies on large-scale GMP environments, primarily in Visp, with potential support to other sites. You act as the key interface between engineering, suppliers, and procurement leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute and continuously refine global category strategies for piping and related mechanical scopes
  • Align demand, supplier capacity and supply strategies with internal stakeholders and project teams
  • Manage and develop strategic supplier relationships with key partners
  • Track market developments including regulatory and technological trends
  • Identify and mitigate commercial and supply risks through market and stakeholder analysis
  • Provide regular market intelligence updates regarding pricing and lead times
  • Develop and implement sourcing strategies tailored to investment projects
  • Lead procurement activities for piping bulk materials, fittings, flanges, supports, insulation, passivation, installation services and piping design
  • Define and execute procurement strategies aligned with market dynamics and product segmentation
  • Bundle purchasing initiatives across plants and sites to leverage synergies
  • Prepare, negotiate and maintain framework agreements
  • Evaluate and onboard new suppliers while managing strategic supplier portfolios
  • Drive lifecycle cost optimization and reduce material, logistics and follow-up costs
  • Lead or contribute to initiatives aimed at improving technical procurement performance and efficiency
  • Act as member of the Global Category Team for Construction, Fit-out and Automation
  • Own and manage complex and high-value RFQ packages end-to-end
  • Maintain and update Procurement Management Plan documentation on a weekly basis
  • Support mid-sized and less complex RFQ packages
  • Provide benchmarking data and cost breakdown analyses to the broader procurement team

Candidate Profile

  • Engineering background preferred

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in pharma, biotech or comparable cleanroom-based industries

  • At least 2 years’ experience managing large and complex piping or mechanical tenders within GMP-regulated environments

  • Strong knowledge of EU and UK markets and established network within the DACH region

  • Proven track record in category strategy development and execution

  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills

  • Strong negotiation capabilities

  • Fluent in English, German language skills considered an advantage

  • Experience working in Switzerland within pharma or Capex environments is beneficial

  • Exposure to full Capex project lifecycle from early engineering through qualification phases is a plus

  • Experience handling commercial claims

  • Familiarity with agile project management approaches

  • Advanced contract management knowledge

  • Higher education in supply chain, business, trade or economics is advantageous
