In this role, you take ownership of sourcing and supplier management for laboratory equipment within capital investment projects. You partner closely with engineering and project teams to align procurement strategies with technical and business needs. Your focus is on cost efficiency, supplier performance, and risk management across the full project lifecycle. The position combines strategic category leadership with hands-on execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead RFx activities and vendor selection during early project phases and execution
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to understand short- and long-term business requirements
  • Develop, refine, and implement the laboratory equipment category strategy in line with market capabilities
  • Align procurement priorities with engineering, project teams, and other key stakeholders
  • Define and deliver cost optimization initiatives supporting project and business objectives
  • Challenge established sourcing approaches to drive productivity and efficiency improvements
  • Manage supplier relationships and development initiatives to secure reliable supply and long-term value
  • Monitor supplier performance, compliance, and accountability using defined KPIs
  • Serve as the escalation point for project-related supplier or customer issues
  • Support issue resolution in collaboration with contracts and claims stakeholders
  • Define supply risk management approaches and ensure mitigation plans are executed
  • Translate category strategies into actionable project procurement plans
  • Negotiate equipment purchase agreements and framework agreements with suppliers
  • Lead complex commercial negotiations for major supply and master agreements

Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor’s degree with solid technical understanding of laboratory or process equipment
  • Background in Business and or Engineering preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in procurement with strong exposure to global or regional category management
  • Proven experience in regulated industries such as pharmaceuticals, food, or cosmetics is an advantage
  • Track record in developing and executing sourcing strategies with measurable outcomes
  • Strong CAPEX equipment category experience with emphasis on laboratory equipment such as analytical instruments, heating and cooling systems, filtration, purification, mixing, containment, handling, cleaning, or sterilization
  • Professional procurement certification such as CIPS is a plus
  • Fluent English required with German and or French considered a strong advantage
