In this role, you will oversee the operation, maintenance, and security of a critical data center environment. You will lead a team, ensure infrastructure reliability, and drive continuous improvements. Collaborating with various stakeholders, you'll implement strategies to support organizational goals while maintaining high standards of security and performance. Your expertise will ensure seamless data center operations on a global scale.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the operation, monitoring, and maintenance of data center components to ensure efficiency, security, and reliability
  • Define and enforce global data center standards, including cabling, labeling, and infrastructure procedures
  • Act as the primary contact point for all infrastructure-related issues at the site, coordinating with external service providers and internal teams
  • Lead and manage a team responsible for data center operations and maintenance activities
  • Develop and implement strategic plans and roadmaps for data center infrastructure, considering capacity and future growth
  • Design and periodically test disaster recovery and business continuity plans
  • Manage lifecycle and associated risks of IT assets within the data center environment
  • Plan and execute data center expansions, migrations, and upgrades with risk assessments and capacity planning
  • Drive automation, standardization, and process improvements across data center operations
  • Ensure compliance with security policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements
  • Monitor data center performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement solutions to minimize downtime
  • Stay informed about emerging technologies and recommend innovations to enhance operations

Candidate Profile

  • Extensive knowledge of data center infrastructure, including servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling systems
  • Hands-on experience with VMware vSphere, Windows Server, Linux, storage, and backup solutions
  • Strong understanding of networking fundamentals
  • Proven project management experience with data center expansions, migrations, and upgrades
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulations such as GDPR, HIPAA, ISO 27001
  • Certifications like CDCP or CDCMP are advantageous
  • Expertise in security best practices and infrastructure hardening
  • Demonstrated ability to simplify and standardize complex systems
  • Skilled in driving technological and organizational change
  • Capable of risk assessment and problem-solving in dynamic situations
  • Experience working within regulated industries, such as pharmaceuticals or healthcare
  • Excellent communication skills, fluent in English, German language skills are a plus
  • 5-10+ years of relevant experience, preferably within large, multinational organizations
