In this role, you will oversee the design and implementation of automation solutions for complex projects, ensuring seamless integration and operational excellence. You’ll guide third-party partners, coordinate technical activities, and support project teams to meet scope, schedule, and quality goals. Your expertise will be crucial in maintaining compliant, efficient automation systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical guidance and leadership to third-party integrators regarding Automation and MES systems
  • Act as the primary automation authority for third-party package unit integration within the project’s automation landscape
  • Support the project team by providing necessary information to facilitate timely decision-making, minimizing delays and costs
  • Quickly identify issues and develop solutions related to Automation and MES topics across all stakeholders
  • Promote and improve existing automation standards and practices
  • Coordinate software documentation and contribute to project scheduling, ensuring timely completion of software, hardware, and validation tasks
  • Manage technical staff in software configuration, hardware specifications, and control panel design
  • Supervise external engineering contractors and vendors throughout the project lifecycle
  • Provide project updates and technical input for equipment procurement and vendor selection
  • Support integration of Automation and MES systems into the site-wide OSI Pi Historian system
  • Review and approve automation and MES documentation, including requirements, design, testing, and validation plans
  • Offer technical guidance on DeltaV system configuration for utility and process systems such as clean utilities and environmental monitoring
  • Guide external System Integrators in DeltaV DCS software configuration and testing
  • Lead the integration of third-party package units into the overall automation system, mapping data interfaces and exchanges
  • Collaborate with the MES team to deploy electronic logbooks and ensure smooth integration with DeltaV

Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor’s degree or trade qualification in Electrical, Chemical, Process Control Engineering or related field
  • Proven experience managing end-to-end automation and MES projects
  • Familiarity with regulatory standards such as CFR 21 Part 11 and GAMP 5 (desirable)
  • Industry experience in life sciences or related sectors preferred
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to communicate effectively and foster collaboration
  • MSc or BSc in Electrical Engineering or Automation
  • Deep knowledge of systems like SAP, BMS, PCS (e.g., DeltaV), PLCs (e.g., Siemens SCADA), and OSI Pi Historian
  • Extensive experience in engineering and maintenance, especially within aseptic manufacturing environments
