In this role, you will be responsible for managing the commissioning and qualification processes associated with black utilities, clean utilities, and HVAC systems. Your focus will be on achieving objectives related to safety, timelines, and operational functionality, all in accordance with established Commissioning Plans and Protocols.

Key Responsibilities

  • Black Utilities: Management of Instrument Air Generation and Distribution, Black Steam systems, Chilled and Cooling Water systems, Cooling Towers, Sanitary systems, and Drinking/Heating water systems
  • Clean Utilities: Oversight of Compressed Air, Nitrogen, Softened Water, Purified water systems, and Clean Steam Generation and Distribution
  • HVAC systems
  • Execute and review commissioning and qualification test protocols using the KNEAT electronic documentation system, which includes:
  • Conducting sequence of operation tests for startup, hold, abort, stop, and emergency stop sequences
  • Tuning control loops
  • Testing pumps and fans
  • Conducting alarm and interlock tests
  • Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical and electrical issues encountered during commissioning, proactively escalating problems when necessary
  • Support the integrated commissioning of DeltaV system software, hardware, and interfaces with various process and utility systems
  • Provide hands-on engineering support to ensure the reliable operation of automated systems and troubleshoot process control and operational issues
  • Fine-tune equipment performance to meet acceptance criteria
  • Ensure safe and correct startup of black utilities, clean utilities, and HVAC systems while considering associated risks and mitigation strategies outlined in method statements and risk assessments (RAMS)
  • Collaborate on additional C&Q activities as required
  • Adhere to safety protocols and HSE standards, including Lock-Out-Tag-Out preparations and PSHR completion as the system owner
  • Be prepared to work shifts when necessary
  • Approach problem-solving proactively and manage interfaces effectively

Candidate Profile

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences or Engineering
  • At least 4 years of experience in process commissioning, with a minimum of 3 years in utility system commissioning preferred
  • Hands-on experience with Delta V DCS commissioning and troubleshooting, including Delta V Operate/Live and Control Studio
  • Fluent in English with strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements and codes of practice within the Life Sciences industry
  • Familiarity with cGMP and regulatory requirements
  • Ability to work independently and meet deliverables within target timelines

Preferred Requirements

  • Proficiency in German is a significant advantage
  • Experience with specific commissioning and qualification approaches
  • Familiarity with COMOS/KNEAT platforms
  • Knowledge and experience in the biopharmaceutical field
