In this role, the Commissioning Engineer will play a crucial part in the successful commissioning and qualification of various equipment and utility systems within a significant project. The engineer will provide hands-on support, ensuring that all systems are operational and compliant with industry standards, while collaborating closely with the project team to facilitate timely decision-making and problem resolution.

Key Responsibilities
 

  • Offer on-site assistance for the commissioning and qualification of utility and process systems managed by the DeltaV DCS, including black and clean utility generation, HVAC systems, environmental monitoring, and compounding systems
  • Develop and assess commissioning and qualification test protocols using the KNEAT electronic documentation system, focusing on operational sequences, control loop tuning, and troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues
  • Aid in the integrated commissioning of DeltaV system software, hardware, and interfaces with various process and utility systems
  • Provide engineering support to ensure the reliable operation of automated systems, addressing control system and operational challenges as they arise
  • Collaborate with the project team to gather necessary information for informed decision-making, minimizing impacts on cost, timeline, and quality
  • Guide field execution to ensure compliance with established standards and procedures, maintaining adherence to current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP)
  • Document any issues encountered through KNEAT and initiate project changes as needed for timely resolution
  • Mentor and train team members to enhance overall team knowledge and expedite the commissioning process
  • Ensure that all field execution activities are conducted safely, following health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards, including oversight of Lock-Out-Tag-Out procedures and risk assessments

Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor’s degree or relevant trade qualification in Engineering (Electrical, Chemical, Process Control, or a related field)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail and the capacity to work both independently and collaboratively within a team
  • 5 to 10 years of experience in process commissioning, with a preference for at least 3 years in utility system commissioning
  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience with DeltaV DCS commissioning and troubleshooting, including familiarity with DeltaV Operate/Live and Control Studio
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and codes of practice relevant to the Life Sciences industry is desirable
  • Experience with KNEAT for CQV test execution is a plus
  • Proficient in English (both written and spoken); knowledge of German is an advantage
  • Significant experience with cGMP and field CQV execution
  • Ability to perform well under pressure and meet strict deadlines
