In this Role, the CAPEX Lead is accountable for the design, execution, and handover of investment projects within shared infrastructure areas, ensuring adherence to safety, cost, schedule, quality, and functionality standards. This position requires the ability to manage and lead a multinational project team, as well as to engage effectively with senior management. It operates at a Senior Manager level and involves the operational leadership of mid-sized to large investment projects.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant safety policies, rules, and regulations
  • Establish the project CAPEX charter, including scope, goals, and deliverables, in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders
  • Execute the CAPEX project within budget, scope, and timeline
  • Implement project control systems to manage risk, cost, and schedule effectively
  • Conduct regular engineering and project control reviews to ensure project execution aligns with safety, quality, cost, and schedule objectives, and implement corrective actions as needed
  • Define and manage overall project resources (internal and external) while providing daily leadership
  • Ensure the implementation of advanced technical solutions and compliance with quality, safety, and environmental standards
  • Share and leverage best practices within the engineering community
  • Facilitate a successful project handover to the user team, including appropriate training and documentation

Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering (Mechanical, Plant Engineering, or similar)
  • 5-10 years of engineering experience, with at least 5 years in investment projects (CAPEX) in an infrastructure setting 
  • Strong project management skills, including contract management
  • Broad knowledge of project controlling and appraisal
  • In-depth technical expertise in infrastructure project engineering, preferably in the chemical or pharmaceutical sectors
  • Extensive interdisciplinary knowledge and strong HSE understanding
  • Effective leader and team player with excellent communication skills, capable of managing cross-functional teams
  • Strong collaboration and influencing skills, with the ability to lead diverse teams to successful project delivery
  • Experience working independently and in a collaborative environment
  • Ability to adapt to shifting priorities and demands through analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills, and strong prioritization and task execution abilities in a fast-paced environment
  • Languages: Fluent in German and English (min B2)
