In this role, the Planning Engineer will oversee and coordinate the planning and scheduling aspects of the project, playing a crucial role within the project controls team. This position involves ensuring timelines are met and resources are allocated efficiently to achieve project goals. The Planning Engineer will collaborate closely with stakeholders to facilitate effective communication and streamline processes throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and update the master Primavera P6 schedule at various levels.
  • Track and measure progress in engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning using various tools.
  • Maintain schedule basis documents, including deliverable and interdependency matrices.
  • Lead or assist cross-functional teams in planning sessions, ensuring inputs align with site and project procedures.
  • Monitor schedule deviations and variances, and help develop corrective action methods.
  • Communicate progress and key milestones to stakeholders.
  • Prepare periodic reports on schedule progress, critical path analysis, trending charts, and overall schedule analysis.
  • Ensure schedule quality and governance, maintaining the credibility of the information.
  • Actively analyze integrated project schedules across disciplines.
  • Regularly review schedules with project team members to ensure accurate and timely data.
  • Prepare reports according to procedures to update Project Management on schedule status and critical issues.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Candidate Profile

  • Education: Degree or advanced degree in Engineering, Science, Quantity Surveying, or Business Management preferred, or equivalent experience
  • Experience: 10+ years as a project planner for large pharmaceutical projects (> 250 million CHF)
  • Relevant experience in managing and working within a multi-user Primavera P6 environment
  • Ability to interpret schedule data efficiently and communicate relevant information to senior management
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Experience in a global environment and with pharmaceutical projects involving Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Commissioning contracts
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyze complex data sets and support decision-making
  • Adaptable to shifting priorities and demands
  • Strong written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and influencing skills
  • Languages: Fluent in English, German is a plus
